Good afternoon. Welcome to Whitwick & District U3A.
Our next general members event is later this month. General meetings, talks etc. are usually held on the 3rd Friday of the month at Whitwick Methodist Church at 2.00 pm. You are most welcome to come along and find out more. Forthcoming topics are listed below.
What is u3a? u3as exist to provide a forum in which those no longer in full-time employment or raising a family can get involved in helping to create, join and run a wide variety of activities which improve their knowledge and skills, enhance their physical and mental wellbeing and keep them socially connected in a friendly and informal environment. It is a non-political and non-religious organisation.
Central to this are interest groups of which we have over 35. In these we learn from each other and from direct experience, rather than being taught in a formal setting . There is no formal structure of assessment or awards. Any member can, and is encouraged to, form a new group within their own area of interest or expertise.
Our membership is drawn from North West Leicestershire, primarily from the Whitwick / Coalville area and other nearby towns and villages
New groups etc.
NEW The December General Meeting is open to all members, however, numbers are limited so booking is required. Bookings open 1st Nov and can be made online in the Members Area, or by providing your Membership Number to either the Chair or the Events Organiser.
NEW A new group is starting on 10th Oct - Social Saturday which is just what it says..
NEW An additional Days Out has been arranged for 26th November to Bicester Village and Oxford.
NEW Two new groups have started . Morning Mingle Coffee and Social Disco .
We have a reciprocal agreement with Ashby u3a to extend our cooperation on each other's activities. Members can attend any group that their own u3a does not currently run without having to join the second u3a (Ashby) and vice versa. Any member attending one of the other's groups need to show a membership card as proof of membership.
For more information on the whole range of interest groups, including their meeting arrangements, please look at the Groups page.
